Our family originates from Malé, the capital of the Maldives. Growing up, nature was our playground — weekends spent fishing or night snorkeling for lobsters. But as Malé grew, development consumed what little space remained.

The family
Four brothers. One island. One business.
We grew up in Malé, fascinated by the sea life around us. As Malé filled with concrete and the beach disappeared, we moved to Fulidhoo and built Luau Beach Inn — opening in 2016 with just four rooms.
Today there are 14 rooms, but the rest is unchanged. Four brothers, our parents, and our partners run the inn end-to-end. We're the same people you eat dinner with, dive with, and go night-fishing with — because that's how we wanted to share Fulidhoo when we built this place, and that's how it still works.
The Maldives discards 280,000 plastic bottles a day in Malé alone. We don't have a single plastic water bottle on the property.

In 2023, Luau Beach Inn was awarded the PROMISE Sustainability Award by SwitchAsia — an EU-funded programme working with small businesses across Asia to cut single-use plastic and reduce waste.
We were one of the first guesthouses in the Maldives to eliminate plastic water bottles from the property entirely. Every guest receives a stainless steel bottle on arrival. Water stations across the property. Recycling routed through Parley for the Oceans.
According to the World Bank, 280,000 plastic bottles are discarded daily in the Maldivian capital Malé. The award recognises practical contributions to that number going down.

Our family originates from Malé, the capital of the Maldives. Growing up, nature was our playground — weekends spent fishing or night snorkeling for lobsters. But as Malé grew, development consumed what little space remained for nature and beaches.
We settled on Fulidhoo Island, reconnected with nature, and decided to share these experiences with travellers from all over the world. In 2016, Luau Beach Inn was born — to accommodate guests and share local island life.
Today, we welcome families, couples, divers and adventurers from every corner of the world. Facilities upgraded to welcome elderly guests and those with special needs.

✈️ Extenuating circumstances — free re-schedule
If international borders close, your airline cancels, or you test positive for COVID-19 and can't travel, we waive penalties and re-schedule your dates free of charge — 0 to 7 days before arrival. We'll need proof: cancelled flight confirmation or positive PCR test.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get to Fulidhoo from Malé airport?+
Speedboat from Velana International Airport — about 1 hour. We arrange all transfers. Share your flight arrival time when booking. Cost: $80 USD roundtrip per adult. Children free.
What time is check-in and check-out?+
Check-in from 1:00 PM. Check-out by 12:00 PM. Early/late available on request. Luggage storage always available.
Is breakfast included?+
Yes — included with all rooms. Fresh Maldivian spread served daily from 7:00–10:00 AM.
What is your cancellation policy?+
Three tiers, all based on your arrival date: cancel 30+ days before arrival and 30% of room charges apply; cancel 14+ days before and 50% applies; cancel within 7 days or no-show and the full booking amount is charged. We waive penalties for documented extenuating circumstances (international border closures, airline cancellations, positive PCR for COVID) — share proof of cancelled flights or test and we'll reschedule free of charge. What currency should I bring?+
US Dollars are easiest. We accept USD, MVR, Visa, Mastercard and Amex. No ATM on Fulidhoo — bring cash from Malé.
How is the Package Builder priced?+
Activity prices come directly from our official rate cards (inclusive of 10% service and 17% T-GST). Room rate is confirmed by us on enquiry. The bundle discount applies to the activities subtotal once it exceeds $300 (5%), $700 (10%) or $1,500 (15%).
What diving certification do I need?+
Any PADI, SSI or NAUI Open Water cert is accepted. No cert? Try Discover Scuba (1 day) or PADI Open Water (3–4 days).
What is the best time of year to visit?+
Fulidhoo is wonderful year-round. December–April has the best visibility (30m+). May–November brings more mantas and whale sharks. Water 26–29°C all year.
Is snorkel gear provided?+
Yes — complimentary snorkel sets for all guests to use on the house reef anytime. Reef-safe sunscreen provided on excursions.
Is Fulidhoo a dry island?+
Yes. Fulidhoo is a local island and alcohol is not available, out of respect for the community. We serve fresh juices, mocktails and hot drinks.
Can I combine diving with fishing?+
Absolutely. Many guests dive in the morning and fish in the late afternoon. The Package Builder is built exactly for this — pick activities across days and the bundle discount applies to the total.
Is it safe? Medical emergencies?+
Fulidhoo is extremely safe. Basic health post on the island. Speedboat evacuation to Malé for serious cases. EFR-certified staff on site. Emergency: Police 119 · Medical 102 · DAN +1 919 684 9111.
