One of the most common questions guests send us before booking is: "When is the best time to dive Fulidhoo?"
The honest answer is — there isn't a bad time. Water temperature stays between 26 and 29 °C year-round, and most weeks have at least four divable days. But there are distinct seasons, each with its own draw.
The Maldives sits between two monsoon systems:
December – February. Postcard-perfect. Top visibility. Light south-easterly winds. Best for photographers and beginners.
March – April. Transitional shoulder season. Quiet, warm, still very clear. Our personal favourite — the reef feels less busy.
May – June. First plankton blooms arrive. Manta sightings start. Visibility drops a little but the action goes up.
July – August. Peak plankton. Whale shark window in some seasons. Fewer divers visiting. Expect the occasional rain shower.
September – October. Manta cleaning stations at their best. Several reliable sites within a 20-minute boat ride.
November. End of pelagic season, start of transition back to dry. Manta sightings still common; visibility starting to clear up.
If you've never dived before, we offer the PADI Open Water course over 3 to 4 days. If you're already certified, we have 5, 10 and 15-dive packages plus full equipment rental.
